Malt Extracting Machine

Malt Extracting Machine
Barley malt is used to produce various edibles and beverages. After the barley is harvested, it is cleaned and removed from the husk by using various processing machines like graders, destoner, color sorter, etc. The malt in the barley is created by applying various techniques like grading, steeping, germination, kilning and malt cleaning.

Malt making process
Barley grader and destoner cleans the barley by reducing stones, dusts and other foreign particles. The cleaned barley is then soaked in water. At the end of the steeping period, the grain will contain sufficient amount of moisture. After steeping, barley is allowed to germinate. After some modifications water is removed from the green malt. The malt then becomes stable and can be stored without deterioration. It can also be slightly roasted to give it color and flavor.

Malt extraction process
The malted grain after being crushed by the rollers and converted into flour, is fed into a mash conversion vessel under controlled temperature. The produced mash is then transferred to a mash filter where the liquid, called wort, is separated from the remaining malt husk. The evaporator concentrates wort into a viscous liquid. The evaporation process takes place under vacuum so that the lower temperature can be used. This helps in the retention of malt flavor. The resultant product is malt which could be either packed or dried.
