Derived from Italian name, pasta
is made from durum wheat semolina giving it light yellowish color and
chewing texture. It is popular world wide and is prepared either
extruding through the holes or by lamination in which dough is kneaded,
rolled to thickness, then cut by slitters. Pasta is cooked in boiled
water and then served by sauce and other seasonings.
Pasta making machine consists of rollers, mixers, dryers, extruding
machines, cutter, steam mixer, etc. Pasta machine comes in two
varieties :
- Manually Operated
In manually operated machine hand crank is used to give machine the
power. Pasta dough is usually created by hands. The dial in the
pasta machine allows the user to choose the desire thickness. There
is an arrangement in the machinery that cuts the pasta in the
appropriate sizes. Some pasta machines also have rollers and
laminators. These machines are of small sizes and normally occupies
very less space in the kitchen.
- Electrically Operated
The pasta machine is normally made up of stainless steel or chromium
plated steel, with steel gears and dough rollers. In electric model
mixing and kneading of the dough is done by the motor inside the
machine. The cutter in the machine cuts the pasta in the appropriate
sizes.
