Shrimps, belong to the phylum,
Crustacean. They have a hard shell named exoskeleton covering and
protecting the whole body. Their legs are articulated and they are very
mobile and efficient. Shrimps are one of the major sea food. The first
step in the processing of shrimp is removal of their shell. The
deshelling is also called as peeling. Later on they are washed and
chopped in chopping machines. The machines used for processing shrimps
are :
- Shrimp Peeler
Shrimp peeler or shrimp peeling machine consists of a feed device
from where shrimp is delivered in a feed conveyor. The conveyor
carries the shrimp to a shrimp clamp assembly located on a rotatable
transport wheel. The shrimp peeling machine also includes a
hold-down wheel for assisting the clamping of shrimp in a clamp
assembly, a dual brush assembly and a shrimp meat removal device.
- Shrimp Grader
A shrimp grader incorporates shrimp conveyor which conveys shrimps
in a linear path. Shrimp smaller than a preselected size range will
fall through the slot while shrimp of the preselected size range
will be gripped at the juncture of the heads and body. Several
shrimp grading machines may be placed in cascading relation with
succeeding machines being adjusted for smaller size ranges of shrimp
falling from the conveyor of the immediately preceding shrimp
grading machine.
- Shrimp Tray
Shrimp tray allows an operator to visually align a shrimp in the
tray by adjusting first segment of the shrimp in the tray relative
to the stripe.
- Shrimp Conveyor
Shrimp conveying and positioning apparatus consists of track which
is oriented along an inclined path in one direction. The apparatus
also includes a contact plate wherein the shrimp ride upon it to
position the shrimp from a vertical orientation to a horizontal
orientation.
