Pulse Mill
Pulse mill (dal mill) is an
important machine for processing pulses like pea, gram, lentil after
they are harvested. Pulse mill dehusk and split these grains and make
them suitable for consumption. Pulses, before they are milled are soaked
in water and dried in sun and then are fed into the unit for milling.
Milling process Operated by electric motor, pulse mill consists of emery or corundum rollers, hopper where pulse or dal is feeded, and pulse outlet. Some mill consists of a steel and a rubber discs between which the grains are fed to obtain pulses. By giving space between the rollers and by replacing the rubber discs with a steel disc, grits are produced out of pulses. The adjustment between the clearance also helps in obtaining good quantity of dehusked split pulses. There are different outlets for obtaining splitted pulses, husks, and powdering materials.
