Rice Milling Plant
Rice mill is an assemblage of
various machines like husker, polisher, huller, destoner, separator etc
that are used for processing rice. When rice is harvested it is
surrounded by non edible husks or hull. However after the processing in
rice mill, rice becomes suitable for consumption. The dehusking,
hulling, polishing, destoning, separation etc are some of the processes
that are carried out in rice mill.
Mechanical Operations The basic goal of industrial rice milling is transforming paddy rice into white rice, while giving it a good appearance and selecting the best quality grain for human consumption. The first step in rice milling operation is removing of husk and bran from its surface. The husking is done by introducing the paddy in the husking chamber, between the two rollers. The foreign particles like hey, stones, tree stump etc are removed by using destoner. Milled rice is separated by using sieve grader. Through sorting machine all defected rice is separated from the clean rice. The most important aspects of rice milling are rice whitening and rice polishing. Rice whitening is achieved by using abrasive rollers together with blowing. For the best results the gap between abrasive rollers and screen blade is adjusted. Rice polishing on the other hand is done by rice polisher which consists of iron rollers or fine emery rollers to polish rice with large wind and easy rice bran discharging. |
